Lord (Norman) Fowler has been nominated for a seat on the governing body of Holcim, the Swiss cement group that took over Midlands-based Aggregate Industries earlier this year.

Lord Fowler, a former MP for Sutton Coldfield, Cabinet minister and chairman of Midland Independent Newspapers, the then publisher of The Birmingham Post, was previously non-executive chairman of Aggregate.

Peter Tom, currently chief executive of Aggregate, will succeed Lord Fowler as non-executive chaiman and chief operating officer Bill Bolsover will become chief executive.

The changes "confirm the growing importance and integration" of Aggregate.
