Swinton, the high street insurance broker, is looking to buy businesses in the Birmingham area as part of its plans to increase its presence in the region.
The Manchester-based group, which has 355 branches across the UK, says it is committed to opening local branches and employing local people to work in them.
Swinton says expansion into Birmingham will enable it to offer customers a wider choice of services combined with competitive quotes and consistent quality of service.
Kelly Ogley, head of acquisition for Swinton, said: "The UK insurance industry is facing a period of change and it's a daunting time for brokers out there in the market place.
"Tough legislation, increasing costs of trading and FSA regulations are putting a strain on smaller firms and we are speaking to brokers who are interested in exploring the various options available to them.
"We are also aware that letting go of a business is never easy, which is why we are flexible and can offer a phased acquisition period.
"Brokers can rest assured that they are leaving their business in capable hands. Our experience in acquiring businesses has enabled us to provide reassurance to over 200 brokerages. Furthermore, we are fully committed to existing employees and will ensure a smooth transfer of existing staff into the Swinton family."
Swinton provides home, car, caravan, business, holiday, motorbike and classic car insurance.
