People called David are more likely to earn over £100,000 a year than those with other names.
Those called John and Michael are also likely to be high earners, being second and third most likely to command a sixfigure salary, according to Barclays.
The group, which analysed the names of 60,000 of its premier customers who earn more than £100,000 a year, found that men called Peter, Paul, Andrew and Richard were also likely to be high earners.
Among women, those called Susan topped the list for bringing in more than £100,000 a year, followed by people called Elizabeth, Sarah and Jane.
Other women's names which cropped up a lot among its high-earning customers were Helen, Patricia, Jacqueline and Alison.
Mark Till, marketing director for Barclays Premier Banking, said: "If you want your newborn to keep you in the manner to which you have become accustomed in your old age you should consider the latest list of high earners' names.
"My mother is slightly disappointed that I only make number nine."
