Quantity surveyor Paul Dorrell from Shaylor contracting group aims to raise £10,000 for Help For Heroes with a coast to coast trek from the Pacific to the Caribbean.

Thirty-year-old Mr Dorrell works for the specialist interiors division and is a Lance Corporal in the Territorial Army.

Shaylor held his job open for 12 months while he completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2009.

Since returning to work in January 2010 Mr Dorrell has made regular donations to Help for Heroes and on February 15 he will embark on a challenging eight-day jungle trek through Costa Rica.

The route, which will involve trekking and rafting for up to eight hours a day, takes in coffee plantations, smoking volcanoes, cloud forest, dense tropical rainforest and mangrove swamps.

His group will also have the rare opportunity to work with one of the local communities.
