Ten months ago Kate Bartram set up an innovative drycleaning business for offices in the B1 postcode of Birmingham - it has been so successful the business is being expanded to take in the whole city and beyond.

Mailwash, based at The Broadway Plaza, has already added shoe repairs, photo processing and key cutting to its services, and is winning an increasing number of contracts with high-profile office centres in the city centre for its core business of laundry and dry cleaning.

Now the company is recruiting field agents throughout Birmingham to promote the business.

It will be the agents' responsibility to bring in the dry-cleaning orders and ferry them to the central headquarters and return them when it is done. For that the commission structure is such that the agents can pick up 20 to 30 per cent on sales.

Ms Bartram said: "Our door-to-door service has built up a reputation for quality at a reasonable cost, and we are already employing six staff.

"Now it is time to expand the business. Our next move is to establish two pick-up points in the city centre".
