Staff at a Birmingham steelworks have raised more than £2,000 for a hospice.

Employees at Vetchberry Steels in Wyrley Road, Witton are supporting John Taylor Hospice in Erdington for a year because many have had family or friends cared for there. They have baked, run and dressed down to raise £2,361.37.

Darren Cutler, who works in the warehouse, saw the care at John Taylor when his father Thomas spent his last days there two years ago.

“John Taylor Hospice means a lot to a lot of people at Vetchberry Steels,” he said.

“We have also had former employees who have been looked after at John Taylor.

“Everyone knows how much they can do for people, we saw that ourselves when my dad was here. There was nothing they wouldn’t do for him.”
