A 12-strong team from St Philips Chambers pounded the streets in aid of ‘The Cities Legal Walks’ to raise funds for charities who provide free legal help and support to those most in need across the region.
The 10k walk saw members of the legal profession join together on the walk, which took them around the city centre and canal network. Already an established event in London for four years, it has been rolled out for the first time this year, with walks also taking place in Manchester, Brighton and Cardiff.
James Burbidge QC, head of St Philips Chambers, said: “With a lack of public funding in many areas of the law, it’s vital that we support charities that fill the gap by providing free advice and support to claimants. Everyone benefits if good legal advice is available to all. This is a simple way of bringing the profession together to raise awareness of the charities and raise much-needed funds.”
So far the team has raised £1,500 for its efforts dividing the donations equally between the legal support charities and those chosen by the family of a member of chambers who sadly passed away earlier in the year, leaving behind a young family.
