St. Modwen’s intrepid cycle team has successfully completed its Lands End to John O’Groats charity cycle ride.
A total of 866 miles, 500,000 wheel rotations and 44 Full English breakfasts later, a team comprising regional director Mike Herbert, senior development surveyor Mike Murray and development surveyors Andrew Cox and Jonathan Green, have raised in excess of £25,000.
The money will go towards four nominated charities – The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice Trust, Breast Cancer Campaign, the British Heart Foundation and the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer.
Mr Herbert said: “We are delighted to have successfully completed the cycle challenge which we set ourselves at the beginning of the year. Having spent months intensively training to ensure we had the stamina to successfully complete the route, we were thrilled to reach John O’Groats some ten hours ahead of schedule.
“The route wasn’t without its challenges as we tackled steep ascents, inclement weather and perilous caravans but we persevered as a team and, with the help of over 125 energy bars and thoughts of our many supporters behind us, we were delighted to cross the finish line injury free.”
