Midland and England sports stars helped raise £20,000 for a motor neurone disease at a charity golf day and dinner in Stapleford Park.
The Broad Appeal saw former England cricketer Mike Gatting, Leicester Tigers captain and Irish international Geordan Murphy, fellow Leicester Tigers player Matt Smith and former England cricketer and journalist Jonathan Agnew play a round on the course near Melton Mowbray.
Following the death of his wife Miche from MND in 2010, former England cricketer Chris Broad and his two children, England fast bowler Stuart and England team performance analyst Gemma, set up the appeal in 2010 to raise awareness and fund research into this terminal disease.
Event organiser Nick Joyce said: “Stapleford Park have been terrifically supportive and many generous people enjoyed a dinner in the Grand Hall after the golf event. We must say a huge thank you to all those who took part, golfers, diners and the event’s sponsors, who together with some amazing donators helped us achieve a figure way beyond our expectations.”
