The director of the Solihull Town Centre Business Improvement District has resigned after three months in the job.

Marketing specialist James Brown, who took up the post in July, has left the position to pursue other interests.

Mr Brown had 20 years experience in marketing, including a lengthy spell at the NEC.

Prior to his appointment to the BID in June, he had been a marketing consultant with the Convention Centre, in Dublin.

Solihull BID chairman Sue Yates, said work would continue to force through improvements in Solihull despite Mr Brown’s departure.

She said: “He spoke to me to say he had decided to pursue other interests. I have no involvement in what he was going on to do.”

She added: “I think these things happen in life – sometimes people decide the role isn’t for them.”

Ms Yates said it was business as usual with project manager Shirley Sturzaker stepping into the role on a temporary basis.

The BID will work with retailers and businesses in the town centre to improve the trading environment.

Solihull BID said the role would be advertised in the near future.
