A new investment network which will help technology firms raise business development funding has been launched at the Silverstone Innovation Centre.

Sir Jackie Stewart, president of British Racing Drivers Club, was guest speaker at the launch of the Silver-stone Investment Network, which also featured presentations from five entrepreneurs seeking funding to grow their businesses.

Companies presenting at the launch meeting included MB Roadcars, who are developing a three-seater sports car for the supercar market; Northbridge Motorsport, who make ultra high strength parts for Formula 1 cars; and Captimax, who create additional media value in motorsport through their patented TV camera-tracking technology, called Navicam.

Silverstone Investment Network is managed by Oxford Innovation, which operates three successful investment networks in Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley and manages Silver-stone Innovation Centre.

Dr David Kingham, chief executive of Oxford Innovation, said: "We are delighted that the concept of Silver-stone Investment Network is now a reality and we were honoured that Sir Jackie Stewart joined us at the launch event.

"We hope that Silverstone Investment Network will provide a forum where entrepreneurs can raise the capital they need to grow their businesses, and that it will meet the significant investor demand in the county for access to investment opportunities in high growth potential companies.

"The network has attracted investors, organisations and professional firms from across North-amptonshire and I would particularly like to thank the sponsoring organisations for their strong support."

Paul Taylor, chief executive of Invest Northampton-shire, also said: "North-amptonshire has ambitious growth plans and we need to encourage entrepreneurs to build their businesses here. The launch of Silverstone Investment Network marks an important step forward." ..SUPL:
