Simon Linford has become the fourth generation of the Linford family to take over the running of the family building business.
Mr Linford will become executive chairman of the Lichfield-based contractor, which operates across the Midlands, North West and North Wales.
He takes on the role from David Linford, his uncle, who will become a director of the business, concentrating on the restoration market.
Prior to the new appointment, Mr Linford was a non-executive director of the holding company F & EV Linford. "This is an exciting role and one to which I am consciously bringing something slightly wider in terms of corporate experience, commercial presence and perhaps an additional style of lead-ership and management," he said.
Mr Linford said he saw his appointment as part of a wider plan that started when Robert Pearson was made managing director of the firm six months ago.
Recent Linford contracts include the Broadway Plaza apartments in Birmingham, the new Wolverhampton Wanderers training ground and Compton Verney in Warwickshire.
