A new corporate branding strategy for a Staffordshire country estate helped raise income last year by 43 per cent, a seminar heard.

The boost came at Staffordshire County Council-run Shugborough, which was the home of the Queen's late cousin Patrick Lichfield.

A seminar in Birmingham also heard that visitor numbers were up 17 per cent.

The strategy to rebrand the estate was drawn up by Tamworth-based Booker & Hopkins Associates.

Director Nick Booker said: "What followed in the wake of our report was huge."

A new business priority and sweeping changes emerged following the new focus.

Mr Booker used the example of Shugborough to illustrate the importance of corporate branding and corporate identity.

He was speaking at a conference on Marketing for the Future held as part of the Seminars for Success programme organised by the business development team at Aston Science Park, Birmingham, to encourage growth amongst SMEs and owner-managed businesses.

The seminar, attended by more than 100 delegates, was also addressed by Elisabeth Lewis-Jones, a director of both Bromsgrove-based Liquid Public Relations and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, John Sealey, of Your Marketing Matters and Shaun Carvill, director of website company Clickingmad.
