Popularity of the Mini and the BMW 1 Series helped Midland car dealer Rydale achieve a record 2005.

The company, a subsidiary of privately-held Coleshill-based Ryland Group, saw sales rise 26 per cent, or £64 million to £308million.

Rydale said it was creating up to 30 more jobs.

Managing director Mike Buffey said: "The BMW 1 Series has been a conquest car, attracting new customers from other major brands and filling a gap in BMW's range. The Mini has

continued to be a favourite and our sales of used Minis increased by 64 per cent in 2005, a figure which looks set to rise with the new second generation model in September."

Rydale added new deal-erships in Sutton Coldfield and Shrewsbury last year and plans a further £5 million investment.

The creation of a Warley bodyshop, due in August, will support dealerships.

"These are exciting times for the group with huge benefits to the West Midlands," said Mr Buffey. ..SUPL:
