Furniture makers from Romania were today meeting business representatives and public agency officials to explore the potential for trade links in the West Midlands.
They were set to hold exploratory talks as part of a trade visit to display at the NEC's Furniture Show 2006. Chairman of the West Midlands Business Council exports steering group Peter Mathews said: "Today's talks - at BIA - are an important first step to find out if joint ventures could be developed between Romanian and West Midlands regional furniture makers."
Mr Mathews is also president of the Midlands World Trade Forum Romania is seen as a key emerging market: the country joins the EU in 2007. The Confederation of West Midlands Chambers of Commerce is working to forge links with the country.
