Roca UK, a subsidiary of the world's second largest supplier of bathroom sanitary ware, is expanding its Midlands ware-housing hub with a £1 million extension by Bromsgrove construction group Weaver.
The construction project at Coalville, Leicestershire, which is due for completion this spring, will increase the warehouse space by 50 per cent and includes the creation of an extended mess room, remodelling of office area and extension to washrooms.
Roca UK was set up in 1993 as a dedicated subsidiary of Roca worldwide, a Spanish-owned company started by the four Roca brothers in 1917 to produce radiators.
It later added cast iron baths and then vitreous enamelware to its product portfolio and now manufactures high quality, creatively designed sanitary ware in 50 countries across five continents.
Growth in bathroom product sales in the UK has grown steadily in recent years, buoyed by increased property values, consumer confidence and the trend in new build developments with multiple cloakrooms and en-suite facilities.
In addition, many interior design and housing market specialists now view bathrooms as vital as kitchens when adding value to a property.
A spokesperson for Roca said: "Although last year's rising interest rates have adversely affected some of our competitors, our sales have actually increased year on year.
"And, with more growth forecast, we need to expand our warehousing facility accordingly. We are very optimistic about the future for Roca in the UK market."
Mark Weaver, marketing director at Weaver, said: "Roca has carved itself a niche by providing high technicalspecification and design-led products to the UK."
