Birmingham-based car maker MG Rover has restructured its external communications department ahead of the anticipated deal with China's Shanghai Automotive.

William Baldwin-Charles has taken up the role of corporate communications manager and Raynor West is the new corporate communications officer.

Mr Baldwin- Charles worked as a public relations consultant at Brunswick Group and Trimedia Communications, and prior to that was a news journalist.

Ms West worked at BBC Radio WM and then went into corporate business television where she worked with Rover Group, BMW and MINI before managing Land Rover UK's internal business television broadcast network.

Daniel Ward, MG Rover Communications Director, said: "Given the high profile of MG Rover we need a strong corporate affairs function and William and Raynor bring valuable new talent to our team."

That team is strengthened with the arrival of former arts and music promoters Katie Howe and Stephen Farmer who have joined as UK Product Communication Officers.

Katie was previously a freelance project manager commissioning hip hop poets, drum & base DJ's and B Boys to work on various youth projects. Stephen in his role as head of TV promotion at Jive Records was responsible for the national TV promotion of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Steps among others.

The corporate communications department will handle press inquiries regarding MG Rover and Phoenix Venture Holdings.
