A Birmingham retail property expert has set up his own firm, looking to capitalise on new trends in brownfield regeneration.

Surveyor and property consultant Alfred Bartlett has left the Donaldsons agency to develop Bartlett Property, with offices in Victoria Square.

Mr Barlett believes no other company in the city is concentrating on this specialist sector and that, having focused on it for six years, he is now at the forefront of the business.

"With city centres becoming saturated, rents prohibitive and access restricted through road congestion, major retail brands are looking to edge of town and roadside to set out their stalls," he said.

"Birmingham is ripe for this type of redevelopment. I believe there is no other city in the UK that offers such opportunities. Mercedes-Benz, KFC and Carphone Warehouse all moving to Eastside."
