Reeds Carpeting - one of the UK's leading events carpeting contractors, has chalked up its first rooftop adventure - four floors above London's Southwark Bridge.

The Coventry-based specialists have installed 200 sq metres of carpeting in a marquee on top of the offices occupied by the European law firm SJ Berwin, giving a new twist to the summer hospitality events conducted by the firm.

"Having moved to this amazing location it was too good an opportunity to miss," said SJ Berwin's Helen Thornhill.

"The rooftop terrace features a permanent garden, plenty of space for open air receptions, year-round, and stunning views across London, the Thames and the London Eye. This year we have installed a large marquee to host an average of three client and staff receptions or dinners a week."

The project meant Reeds' fitters had to hoist the top quality velour carpeting in Night Sky (a very dark blue) up the side of the building. It is quite possible that it will have to be removed during the marquee's tenure, hoisted down to the basement and then rehoisted for celebrations.

However, in the hope of being able to use the office emergency staircase rather than further hoist work, the carpet was laid with painstaking precision in two-metre widths.
