West Midlands-based bed specialist Dreams is claiming a record breaking 2007 with sales up 29 per cent to more than £200 million, and profits doubling to an all time high.

And more than 200 new jobs have been created in the last 12 months, taking the workforce to over 1,400 people.

In 2007 Dreams opened 24 new branches - the last nine in the final nine weeks of the year - and now has 172 outlets across the UK, representing an increase of 50 per cent in the last two years.

The 24 stores that launched in 2007 have been focused in the North West and in Scotland, enabling the company to strengthen in these areas.

Mike Clare, chairman of Dreams, said: "The end of 2007 was an exciting and challenging time for us - opening nine stores in nine weeks is no mean feat, but this is nothing new for Dreams and I'm confident that we are in our strongest ever position going into 2008"
