From Caribbean Chicken to egg and beans on toast, staff at the Birmingham office of national law firm Shoosmiths have contributed their favourite recipes for a book to raise money for St Mary’s Hospice.
This ultimate collection for foodies has already raised more than #400 and is proving popular with Shoosmiths’ 94 staff as well as visiting clients.
Shoosmiths’ Birmingham office nominated St Mary’s Hospice as the local charity to support from May 2006 for a year and so far it has raised more than #2,600 through a variety of fun activities including an It’s a Knockout competition, raffles, selling homemade cakes and a Hydro Active Challenge.
Shoosmiths encourages staff across its seven offices to offer support in the community by giving their time and skill, sometimes by way of pro bono legal help and also completely non-legal activities – for example, staff have been involved in repainting local schools, refurbishing a respite care centre and serving at an inner city breakfast club for school children.
The firm’s national charity of the year is Anthony that saves hundreds each year from leukaemia by providing volunteer donors from the bone marrow register.
