Rave Communications have secured a #200,000 extension to their contract with Bull Ring Markets.
The PR firm battled against five short-listed firms to clinch the two-year deal which will involve raising awareness of the markets to the city's up-and-coming young professionals. This will involve a two-pronged PR and advertising campaign.
Rave – which works with clients such as Carlsberg, Corgi and DHL – first took on the contract in 2004 and was involved in the re-launch of the Rag, Open and Indoor Markets under the Bull Ring name.
Matt Kelly, head of Markets, said: "When working with an agency for a long period of time an agency can sometimes become complacent. During the pitch Rave proved this was not the case.
"They demonstrated that they are still brimming with energy and enthusiasm for the markets – and we are sure they will continue to do a fantastic job for us.
"We are looking forward to seeing Rave’s campaign ideas evolve and are confident that the ideas presented will work hard for us, strengthening our position and attracting new customers in the coming months."
John Wilford, managing director at Rave said it was a fantastic achievement for the company to retain the contract. He said: "There are some exciting campaigns planned over the next few months and we are looking forward to helping the markets to reach the next level.
"Bull Ring Markets have an incredible history and we feel privileged to be working on such an integral part of Birmingham life."
In a separate announcement, Rave said it had appointed Jamie Buckingham as a PR executive. Mr Buckingham previously worked as a senior creative and partner in the Sydney office of agency network EURO RSCG.
Mr Wilford said: "Jamie’s appointment further strengthens our growing creative reputation. Having worked on the likes of Cadbury’s, Heineken, Volvo and Orange in the past, his enthusiasm and talent for finding the ‘big idea’ is spot on for Rave.
"His energy and passion for the industry makes him a superb fit with the agency’s culture."
