Nearly 500 people flocked to a recruitment day organised by Eastside City Jobs for Radisson SAS Hotel Birmingham, which is due to open in Beetham Tower - the city's tallest building, this winter.
Over 100 jobs, ranging from receptionists to room attendants and chefs to concierge, are being created by the hotel, which will have 211 bedrooms, ten meeting rooms, a Sardinian restaurant, two bars and a health and fitness spa.
Valerie Stewart, human resources manager at Radisson SAS Hotel Birmingham, said: "We have been very impressed with the quality of the candidates fielded by Eastside City Jobs.
"Our recruitment brief was to find 'people with the right attitude' and Radisson SAS would provide the skills training.
"We haven't been disappointed. Most of the candidates selected for interview during the recruitment day had outgoing personalities, positive 'can do' attitudes and the natural friendliness and humour that is so characteristic of Midlanders.
"Many were also very enthusiastic about the prospect of working for what they considered to be a 'cool' hotel brand which also had the distinction of being located in an amazing, iconic building right in the heart of the city centre.
"The whole experience has made everyone at Radisson SAS confident that we'll fill all of the positions with quality local people who are not only capable and outgoing, but who also feel passionate about making sure our hotel stands head and shoulders above the competition - literally!"
