Superstars and celebrities who fly first class are being wafted through the air courtesy of a Redditch company that supplies interior trim to some of the world's top airlines.

Q Trim, based in Heming Road, Washford, Redditch, specialises in the design, development and specialist manufacture of soft trim for cars, aeroplanes and yachts, and in seat development and manufacture. And business is growing so fast that the company has expanded into a second unit, 89 Heming Road, to cope with expansion.

Q Trim was founded in 2000, and early projects included the preliminary development of a new marine helm seat, manufacturing leather components for a leading motor manufacturer, and various aircraft and h elicopter re-trimming projects - including finishing work for the Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Suite.

The business previously shared premises in Heming Road with its sister company which handles the design aspects of their projects, but now joint agents John Trus-love and Harris Lamb have let the 5,809 sq ft factory and warehouse at 89 Heming Road to Q Trim for three years at £28,250.

Managing director Colin Cleaver said the business was already operating at full capacity in the new premises.

"We have grown from ten staff to 37 since January this year and we are continuing to recruit skilled staff. Q Trim is a full in-house trim shop focused on the development of trim for high quality products.

"Our areas of expertise include patterning, foam sculpture, finishing and material sourcing, using a wide variety of materials. Services range from design, through the building of prototypes to the finished production of seats and other fittings," said Mrs Cleaver.

Q Trim produces complete bespoke interiors to meet the needs of individual clients as well as other specialist manufacturers. Clients include Virgin Atlantic, Singapore Airlines, Aston Martin, Princess Yachts and in a one-off project for the former MG Rover, Q Trim worked to a brief from the highly successful London fashion designer Matthew Williamson, displaying his designs at the London Fashion Week.

The challenge was to redesign and rebuild the interior of a Rover 25 using fabrics from the garments being modelled.

Business property consultant John Truslove said: "It is nice to think that when top business travellers and A list c elebrities are hurtling through the stratosphere six miles up, they are being cosseted and pampered in surroundings designed and created in Redditch.

"Q Trim is a very exciting company and is typical of the value added production business that we need to attract to the area if Redditch is to continue to thrive."
