Property professionals are getting involved with the ‘Movember’ celebrations this month by entering the month-long charity event whereby men grow a moustache.
Established in 2003, when just 30 people took part, the ‘Movember’ charitable phenomenon has grown rapidly in popularity with more than 253,000 people taking part last year around the world, raising in excess of £25.9 million.
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) matrics Birmingham members are among those taking part in the festivities to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
RICS matrics Birmingham will be holding events throughout ‘Movember’ at Edmunds Bar including a ‘Shave Down’ to mark the start of the event and a prize-giving finale at the end.
Ed Delaney from Savills in Birmingham said: “Movember is an exceptionally well deserving charity and one which RICS matrics is very proud to be supporting.
“The rules to take part are simple – participants will start November with clean shaven faces and then grow a moustache for the entire month; the idea being that the growing moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men.”
