Birmingham technology services provider Probrand has started the year with a record month - clocking more than £250,000 of new business and repeat sales topping £400,000 in January through its on-line IT procurement hub, The IT Index.
The IT Index recorded 147 per cent growth during 2004 with a turnover of £4.45 million and given its current record monthly high looks set to hit in the region of £10 million during 2005 at its current rate of business.
The secure online procurement hub currently accounts for nearly 40 per cent of all Probrand's sales.
The IT Index, which is believed to be Europe's largest IT procurement portal, daily lists over 55,000 IT product lines from 500 manufacturers by best price and availability.
Probrand managing director Peter Robbins said procurement professionals and financial directors alike have been switching onto the enhanced financial control and bottom line savings associated with the solution.
"The solution increases business efficiency, saving an average of one day a week in procurement man hours as well as offering greater spend visibility for financial controllers looking to stamp out rogue purchasing," he added.
"It is this, combined with the solution's ability to get users to the best priced product faster than anything in the marketplace, that is turning customers on to The IT Index.
"The IT Index remains a successful strategic growth tool for Probrand and the combination of an average of two new customers signed up a day and considerable repeat business, proves the technology is doing its job for users.
"We hope this will continue to spur our growth in what it still a relatively flat IT sector where replacement cycles continue to lengthen.
"On the back of our success we have invested in an additional 12,000sq ft of office and distribution space whilst maintaining our recruitment drive looking for e- procurement professionals."
