ORGANISERS of a charity pro-am golf tournament hope to top last year’s total of more than £10,000 raised for two causes.

This year’s Second City Golf Classic, established in 1967, will be held at Little Aston Golf Club on July 17 in aid of Sutton Coldfield based The Norman Laud Association and Arthritis Research UK, the same recipients as last year.

Norman Laud provides respite care for people with special needs and support to their families.

Tournament director Jilly Cosgrove said: “Torrential rain and high winds meant that last year teams played on a reduced course of 13 holes – a first for Second City and Little Aston Golf Club.

“However, spirits remained high during the day and we are very grateful to the team sponsors, sponsors and patrons that made this tournament memorable despite the weather. Let’s hope we have some sunshine this year!”
