Volunteers from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Midlands got out of the office and went back to the classroom as part of a community project in Handsworth.

The project was organised by Business in the Community, of which PwC is a member, as part of the firm’s wider community support initiative.

A group of 10 accountants and technology specialists from the firm’s forensics team spent an afternoon at the African Caribbean Self Help Organisation (ACSHO) to transform its classroom.

The team got to work painting and decorating the classroom, which is used to host the organisation’s weekly ‘Saturday School’, creating a lighter and brighter space for the local community.

Martin Cottle, director in the forensics team at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Midlands, said: “Each year we take part in a project which takes the team out of their day-to-day routines and puts them to work in a project designed to benefit the local community. It was particularly great to be able to do something to support ACSHO – an organisation that is providing grass roots support to the local community in Handsworth.”

Bini Brown from ACSHO added: “We are really pleased with our new classroom.”
