A Warwickshire-based maker of tools and components for industries as diverse as nuclear and construction has completed a double takeover.

PowerKut has bought the Coventry-based businesses of Nanson Engineering & Metrology and associate company Rugby Instruments and Control Services in a £300,000 deal.

As part of the move PowerKut has re-located from its offices in Church Road, Stockingford, Nuneaton to the existing premises of Nanson Engineering and Rugby Instruments at Paragon Way, Bayton Road Industrial Estate, Exhall.

PowerKut, aided by business advisers Harrison, Beale & Owen and HSBC Bank, has invested an additional £150,000 in the purchase of new CNC machines to expand its manufacturing capabilities and to enhance and upgrade its IT Systems.

It is a family-run business which designs and manufactures products for the mining, construction, aerospace, automotive, marine, defence, nuclear, plastics and general engineering sectors of industry.

It specialises in tooling, gauging and machined components and has the expertise to design and produce products in any volume for a multitude of purposes.

The company - which has accreditations by the Ministry of Defence, UKAS and BSI - was established more than four years ago and following the recent acquisitions employs 30 full-time staff.

Pete Everitt, managing director of PowerKut, said the future was bright for the new-look companies as they could now offer a collection of skills under one roof.

The 34-year-old engineer said: "The company has been looking to expand and improve its range of products and services and the two acquisitions are a major stepping-stone, enabling full in-house gauge design and manufacture to be offered alongside UKAS accredited electrical and mechanical calibration." ..SUPL:
