Employees from npower's Solihull and Oldbury offices have put their best foot forward to raise essential funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

More than 140 employees from across npower business participated in the charity's Walk Wonders campaign, raising more than £950 to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer and their families.

Employees at the company's Solihull office were given the opportunity to don their walking boots and take part in a walk around Brueton Park, while employees in Oldbury participated in an on-site treadmill marathon.

The national Walk Wonders campaign is officially sponsored by npower and aims to raise more than £700,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through 10 pre-arranged national walks and additional walks arranged independently by businesses and members of the community who sign up to stage their own mini walkathon.

Paul Coffey, managing director at npower business, said: "We have been supporting Macmillan Cancer Support for the past five years and it is a great way to raise essential funds whilst socialising and having fun.

"Employees have participated in a whole host of Macmillan fund-raising events, including World's Biggest Coffee Morning, the London Marathon and the Great North Run.

"We have been delighted by the response by all our colleagues who have really stepped up to the challenge.

''The money raised by our employees will be matched by npower creating a total of nearly £2,000 for this worthy cause."
