Poundland has snapped up eight former Peacocks stores and and discussions continue on acquiring more.
The Willenhall-based single price retailer, which has 389 stores nationwide, said it was “delighted” with the deal.
The first three stores will open in Seacroft, Haringey and Newmarket on April 5.
The renmaining five stores due to open under the Poundland banner are in Yate, Brighton, Dartford, Falkirk and Hoxton.
Discussions are onging with landlords for further locations across the UK.
The new stores will give Poundland around 44,000 sq ft of additional retail selling space and 220 new jobs are expected to be created.
Poundland CEO, Jim McCarthy, said: “Poundland has grown significantly over the past 12 months and we will continue to open new stores creating local employment opportunities.”
