Workers at Pirelli Tyres are to be balloted on strike action from today in a row over pay.
More than 900 members of the Transport and General Workers Union based at Carlisle and Burton-onTrent have already rejected a wage rise of 2.2 per cent.
National officer Peter Booth said: "These are very good plants in a successful business which has been highly profitable for Pirelli. "Members have worked hard, delivering improvements to make the tyre division one of the best in the group, and understandably feel they are worth more than the 2.2 percent on offer." ..SUPL:
