The last time Birmingham property consultancy Phoenix Beard worked with Standard Life flares were all the rage and glam rock ruled the airwaves.

Now, a relationship which began in the early 1970s and helped locate and secure sites including the Gravelly, Elmdon and Minworth industrial parks has been renewed.

Phoenix Beard has also been appointed to act as managing agents for thirteen of Standard Life Investments properties across the Souteast, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire.

The portfolio, which ranges from major business parks to retail sites, will involve all aspects of property management from tenant liaison to health and safety issues and signage.

Phoenix Beard, which employs 100 people at its site in Newhall Street, Birmingham, has secured the new contract for five years.

Director, Richard Holland, said: "Our work for Standard Life is a great example of the difference a joint approach can make.

"For example, we've worked with the tenants at Gravelly Industrial Park to introduce schemes that address security issues with measures such as CCTV and vehicle control.

"In addition to that, landscaping has always been a high priority and the sites are often applauded for their attractiveness.

Dave Cannon, director of asset management at Phoenix Beard, said: "Of course we are always delighted to be appointed or retained by a client, but the longevity of the relationship with Standard Life Investments makes this especially pleasing."
