Stratford-upon-Avon College has appointed Phoenix Beard to project manage the £5 million extension to its performing arts faculty.

The Birmingham-based property consultants are responsible for overseeing the entire project, ranging from development appraisal and appointing the professional team, through to risk management, construction and final review.

The 1,680 metre extension will accommodate a drama studio, lecture theatre, performance and rehearsal space, with associated recreational and changing facilities.

In addition a 1,759 metre new building will be provided comprising mainly of music studios and rehearsal space, classrooms and a studio caf>. Some existing areas will also be refurbished

David Jackson, vice principal at Stratford-upon-Avon College, said: " We need improved facilities to match the college's excellent reputation in this area and to provide the students with a learning environment that matches the quality of the provision."

Jeremy Maddocks, who led the Phoenix Beard team, said the appointment reflected the company's growing reputation in the education sector.
