Little angels have been celebrating after receiving a present from generous workers.

Pertemps People Development Group employees have donated £500 to the Little Angels Daycare Centre at Hurst Lane, Shard End, Birmingham. The nursery plans to put the money towards a £4,500 outdoor activity centre including a climbing wall and tower.

PPDG workers contribute each month to a Give As You Earn (GAYE) scheme and have donated more than £30,000 to 150 good causes and charities in the last 12 months alone. Over 66 per cent of PPDG's 650 employees have signed up to the GAYE scheme, which deducts money from members' salaries.

Charities and good causes that have received donations from PPDG include many organisations that provide support for the disadvantaged and disabled. Employees of the Birmingham-based company recently clinched the Best Overall prize at the National Payroll Giving Awards, which showcase the best Payroll Giving schemes from UK employers.

Little Angels is attached to the Guardian Angels Primary School and was the brainchild of head teacher Catherine Naughton who believed there was a great need for affordable childcare in the area and, since opening in September, the childcare sessions for children aged two to eight are fully booked.

Catherine, director of the day care centre, said: "It was a lovely surprise when we learned that the employees at Pertemps People Development Group had agreed to donate £500 towards our play equipment. We are very grateful and I'm sure the equipment will be very well used by all the children at Little Angels."

Phil Drayton, employment coach at PPDG's Yardley Advancement Centre, handed over the company's £500 donation. The nursery is a charitable organisation providing care for around 50 children. For more information please contact Catherine on 0121 747 2782.
