PEARS, the Personal Executive Assistant Regional Society, has marked its second anniversary by presenting a cheque for over #1,400 to its adopted charity for 2005 - 2006, The Birmingham Women’s Hospital.
The funds have been raised throughout the year by the raffling of prizes donated by top names including Kevin Breese, General Manager of Harvey Nichols and venues such as the luxury Radisson Hotel which gave away a two night stay with champagne dinner and breakfast at a recent PEARS event.
A cheque to the amount of #1,470 was presented to The Women’s Hospital at an exclusive PEARS event, held at the newly opened Gourmet Burger Company.
Founder member of PEARS, Olivia Harris who is Head of Communications and Marketing at Brindleyplace, commented: "As PEARS celebrates its second anniversary, presenting the cheque to The Women’s Campaign, which we have supported throughout the year, was a great honour and testament to the vision of our organisation. As the rate of PAs and Senior Secretaries joining from in and around Birmingham continues to increase at a phenomenal rate, we are proud to pledge our support to such unique causes in the city.
"Although this represents the serious message behind what we do, all of our events are enjoyable and take members to the most stylish of venues across the city, including exclusive visits to newly opened hotels such as the Radisson and restaurants such as Bank. For our second birthday party, Harvey Nichols closed its store in The Mailbox exclusively for the occasion and presented some wonderful prizes for the raffle."
Pears was launched in 2004 to recognise the integral role PAs play to the overall success of businesses across the professional services community. Events are held on a monthly basis at venues across the City and give all members the opportunity to view locations and also hear talks on a wide variety of topics. It also gives PAs and Secretaries the chance to network and sample the culinary delights of Birmingham.
The next event, taking place on 27th June has been confirmed to take place at the award winning Simpson’s Restaurant.
Olivia added: " We are still looking for a charity to adopt for 2006 – 2007. So if know of a local project which would benefit from our support, we would love to hear from you to enable PEARS to continue working to help make Birmingham a better place. Please send the information to email@example.com as soon as possible as we aim to make a decision by 1st August 2006."
For information on future events, or if you would like more details on how to become member of PEARS, the website is www.pearsbirmingham.com. Events are open to all members to attend, and all that is required is a #5 deposit to secure a place which goes towards the raffle. All proceeds will go to the adopted charity of the year.
