A topping out ceremony marked the completion of external building works at Wolseley UK's spectacular new office headquarters at Spa Park, Leamington Spa.

The 63,250 sq ft complex - a joint venture between Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Stoford Developments - has been developed for Wolseley Limited, the distributor of building and plumbing products, and occupies a prime six acre site on Spa Park, Tachbrook Road. Last year, the £10.9 million transaction was considered to be the largest out of town office deal within the Midlands.

Wolseley's building programme is continuing on an adjacent 18 acre site, where construction is due to start on the firm's massive new 340,000 sq ft national distribution centre scheduled for completion next spring.

The site has been purchased from Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Stoford Developments for a turn key design and build solution to be implemented, for a sum in excess of £8 million.

It is part of an ongoing £100 million investment programme that will further increase the capacity of Wolseley's UK distribution network through its 1,500 branches, which include the Build Center, Climate Center and Plumb Center chains.

This process will involve a roll out of new distribution centres across the country with the Spa site being central.

Adrian Barden, of Wolseley UK, said: "The investment will allow us to continue to meet rising customer demand."
