Lichfield-based Palletways, the provider of distribution services of palletised goods, has extended the boundaries of its pan-European delivery services to include Spain, Portugal and Italy.
The company will be the first network provider in Europe to offer dedicated delivery services for small pallet consignments between the UK and the three Mediterranean countries.
Palletway’s UK network will utilise more than 100 member companies to collect goods, all of which are independent transport companies with local knowledge and expertise. Goods will then be transported to the company’s central hub facility in Lichfield and consolidated for onward distribution to delivery points in Spain, Portugal and Italy via the company’s European hub facilities.
Palletways distribution networks in the UK and mainland Europe are also supported by a fully integrated IT infrastructure that supports European delivery services which customers can use to track their consignments using the internet.
In 2006 the company launched daily delivery services for small consignments of palletised freight between the UK and the Benelux countries, Denmark, France and Germany.
Palletways, which has its headquarters at Fradley Distribution Park in Lichfield, was set up in 1994 and handles circa 21,000 pallets a day across Europe.
Craig Hibbert, managing director of Palletways UK Network commented: “Our pallet networks covering Spain, Portugal and Italy are well established, but now through the development of our pan-European IT platform, they will be joined up to all our other networks in the UK and Europe.
“This means we can now offer a dedicated, highly reliable and competitive delivery service to and from a large area of Continental Europe through our 250 depots and nine hub facilities. Above all this latest development will enhance our service to customers and allow them to increase their competitiveness on a European scale.
“Our extended pan-European delivery services are designed to be very customer friendly. The Palletways vehicle will collect domestic and European freight at the same time; there is a simple, set pricing structure from each Palletways local depot which will apply across all quarter, half and full pallets; and, above all, the customer only deals with Palletways throughout the whole supply chain across Europe and does not have to deal with any third party contractors.”
