A Midland college is to double the size of its north Solihull campus with the opening of a new £8.5 million Motor Vehicle and Construction Centre in September.

Solihull College’s Woodlands Campus in Smith’s Wood will provide education and training in Midland industries including aerospace, engineering, motor vehicle and construction.

The new centre on Auckland Drive will have 12 new workshops, including space for MOT and motor sport, decorating, brickwork and plastering.

Work is underway to expand the campus refectory to retain the students on site, the college said.

Andy Hatchwell, senior director at the Woodlands Campus, said: “We will offer students the highest standard facilities and the latest in teaching technology to provide them with the best preparation for their chosen careers.”
