Three professional organisations have joined forces to organise a sporting dinner which has raised more than £7,000 for a leading children’s charity.
Black Country law firm George Green LLP, accountants BDO Stoy Hayward and Lloyds TSB Commercial Banking held the sporting dinner at Bescot Stadium in Walsall, in partnership with Walsall FC, to help raise money for Barnardo’s.
The dinner was attended by 250 business and community leaders from across the Black Country, who were entertained by football legend and England World Cup winner Nobby Stiles, and his son, comedian John Stiles, and through an auction and raffle raised £7,250 for Barnardo’s.
The money will support Barnardo’s existing activity based projects in the Black Country. This is the second year in succession, in which the three Black Country professional firms have worked together to organise a sporting dinner at Bescot Stadium to benefit Barnardo’s.
“Barnardo’s does a lot of good work with young people across the region, helping to provide activities which alleviate boredom and prevent an increase in anti-social behaviour, so we were pleased to be able to support them financially for a second year,” said Richard Cliff, senior partner at Cradley Heath-based George Green. “I’d particularly like to thank all the business organisations which supported the event by taking tables and donating prizes.”
