An employment business turned cat-sitter to help a candidate land her dream job with a leading law firm.
Nicola Scott, who now works for Wragge & Co, in Colmore Row, Birmingham, was asked for a second interview at the firm an hour before her train was due to leave for Scotland.
Nicola was heading to Glenrothes near Edinburgh to leave her cat, Sascha, with her mother for the summer.
Waterloo Street-based AM Legal, Nicola's employment agency, offered to look after Sascha for the duration of the interview.
The corporate communications secretary said: "I really wanted the job at Wragge & Co and when AM Legal telephoned me I was getting ready to take the train with Sacha. "I knew I didn't have time to leave her at my home in Acocks Green but I really wanted the job and when I told Rebecca about my situation she offered to look after her at the AM Legal office.
"Happily, I was offered the job and I love it.
"The people are really nice and I get on well with my team. I am very grateful to Rebecca for the help she gave me."
Rebecca, who is recruitment consultant at AM Legal, said Sascha was very well behaved.
She said: "As it was a second interview we were very keen to get Nicola in as we felt she was right for the job.
"Our only option was to look after the cat and we were delighted to ring Nicola the next day to say she'd been offered the position."
Nicola now has duties including working as secretary to one of the company's directors and team administrator for the department of corporate communications.
A spokesman for Wragge & Co, said: "Nicola impressed the interview panel with her determination to attend the interview because it clearly showed how much she wanted to work for us."
