A new email magazine has been launched in the Midlands for communications professionals across the UK.

Cascade is a joint venture between journalists Carol Hassall and Robin Fletcher, who run separate communications consultancies, Birmingham-based Red Cat and Reflex in Gloucester.

The new venture - which is sent in a PDF format - is distributed this week by email to communications directors, HR directors, communications managers and marketing executives at more than 100 public and private sector organisations across the UK.

The launch issue includes more than 20 specialist articles on different aspects of communications and includes contributions from:

* Roger Draper, chief executive of Sport England, on the challenge of communicating sport

* Steve Dyson, editor of the Birmingham Mail, on the communication of his new-look title

* Maureen Corish, head of press and PR at Emap Performance, on communicating major music brands

* Boris Worrall, head of communication at the Criminal Cases Review Commission on why PRs should deal more with the media

Cascade, which is supported by advertising, is free to all subscribers and will appear six times a year.

Editor Carol Hassall said Cascade was an exciting new product which gave communications professionals a real opportunity to share ideas, contacts and good practice.

She said: "Having worked in communications, I understand how difficult it can be for those in a communications role to get credit for the great work they do.

"Cascade is an opportunity for those in the public and private sectors to shout about themselves for a change and share their experiences."
