The Birmingham business community is set to reach a global audience as a jazz, blues and gospel band plan a worldwide album launch.
Taking Care of Business is the latest release from Tipitina and was recorded in Birmingham’s business quarter in June 2011.
Organised by Colmore Business District (CBD), the three-hour live recording took place in the courtyard of Hotel du Vin and was attended by members of Birmingham’s business community.
The album features 14 tracks including Taking Care of Business, which was written especially for CBD.
Event organiser and CBD communications co-ordinator Tahreen Kutub said: “Colmore Business District is proud to support and encourage arts and culture in the city. Bringing Tipitina to the District to record their new album enabled us to showcase the cultural offering in CBD after office hours.”
Tipitina are signed to Big Bear Records, a Birmingham-based independent label and organiser of the Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival.
Owner Jim Simpson said: “Tipitina have such wide appeal – from Birmingham to New Orleans – both national and international promotion will commence in January 2012”.
