West Midlands property developer and investor Muck-low has purchased a six acre site at Wakefield Europort on California Drive for £2.2 million and is planning to build 120,000 sq ft of industrial accommodation across a range of units.

Mucklow's managing director, Justin Parker, said: "Wakefield Europort is one of the premier industrial locations in the area and one that we believe has great potential for our typical multi-let industrial estates.

"We will be submitting a planning application within the next eight weeks and we are confident that in creating a multi-unit estate we will be able to attract a range of new tenants, creating many new job opportunities."

Units will range in size from 5,000 sq ft to 35,000 sq ft and rental levels are expected to be in the region of £5.25-£6 per sq ft depending on size.

The site is next to junction 31 of the M62 and Wakefield Europort is already home to firms such as ASDA, Scottish Courage, Royal Mail, Wickes, ISA International, Linpac Plastics and Warburtons.

Mucklow, advised by Jones Lang LaSalle, bought the site from Salmon Harvester Properties, who were advised by Hoddell Stotesbury Morgan and Lawrence Graham.
