A Labour MP has said he is worried about potential job cuts at Birmingham pub firm Mitchells & Butlers, ahead of a review of the business planned for later this month.

John Grogan, the chairman of the all-party beer group, said in the House of Commons that there were fears cost-cutting could mean cuts among the 40,000-strong workforce of the Fleet Street firm.

M&B, which is the largest managed pub group in the country, recently saw a change in management when three directors, including its chairman, were ousted after a bitter boardroom battle for control between directors and a major shareholder.
