A Midland training company has donated £4,000 to local schools in a radio competition for pupils to nominate their favourite teachers.
Coventry based PET-Xi gave money to winning first and second-placed primary and secondary teachers across Warwickshire, along with the children who put forward nominations in an online vote organised by Free Radio.
Eleven-year-old Coventry schoolgirl Victoria Dalton received £250 after nominating her teacher John Chylinski at Aldermoor Farm Primary School in Stoke Aldermoor.
Mr Chylinski received £1,000 which will be used to buy books for the school’s library.
June McKenna, head of key stage two strategy at PET-Xi which runs GCSE and equivalent courses, said: “We were delighted there were around 300 entries and choosing the final three for the online vote was not an easy task because there were so many deserving winners, which emphasises the high standard of teaching.”
