A prestigious awards event that celebrates the best innovative collaborations between companies and universities is set to return for the 15th successive year.

The Lord Stafford Awards were launched in 1997 as a way of showcasing work taking place between academia and business to develop groundbreaking products, processes and services.

Once again, nominations are being sought from West Midlands companies and universities in four categories – open collaboration, sustainability, knowledge transfer and innovation.

The awards, which are supported by universities across the region, Swindell & Pearson, Whittingham Riddell, the Enterprise Europe Network and Clever Cherry, will come to a grand finale at an event at Coventry Cathedral on November 15.

Lord Stafford, patron of the awards, said: “At a time when every penny counts for companies and, at a time when higher

education and research institutions are having to work hard for additional resource, it is essential we showcase the work that is being done and the economic impact it is delivering.

“The Lord Stafford Awards, over the last 15 years, have a track record of discovering and showcasing amazing cases of university and business engagement to turn ideas into reality.

“I am sure this year will be no different and look forward to seeing lots of entries from right across the West Midlands.”

The awards are now open for entries and the deadline is June 28. To find out more about the Lord Stafford Awards visit
