A 26-strong team of volunteers from community retailer The Midcounties Co-operative rose to the challenge to support a dog rescue and re-homing centre in Rugeley.

Colleagues from food, travel, funeral and other areas of the business came together for the day to paint the exterior walls of the rescue and boarding kennel blocks and sand down and re-stain benches for the Border Collie Trust GB.

The trust has been at the site for 15 years and cares for around 30 to 40 border collies at a time, re-homing some 400 to 500 each year. It costs up to £200,000 a year to run the charity so all help is gratefully received.
