Finance director David Neale set off on a marathon bike ride with a “bespoke” packed lunch from Michelin star chef Glynn Purnell.
David is pedalling from Birmingham to Geneva to raise cash for SENSE, the national deafblind and rubella association, and Birmingham Future Foundation, which supports education, training and employment projects in the city.
David, director at JNJ Financial Management, is a veteran of seven mountain climbs and three marathons. He met Glynn at the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) awards last month and the chef offered to prepare him some gastronomic treats for the road, including a salad of Devonshire crab, a fillet of beef and a burnt English custard egg surprise. David said: “The ride from London to Geneva is scheduled to be about 850 miles with checkpoints.
“I challenged the guests at BYPY to raise another £1,000 for the Birmingham Future Foundation and I would start the journey from Purnell’s in Birmingham – a total of around 1,000 miles.
“Not only did the BYPY judging panel pledge £1,000 to the foundation, but The Mailbox pledged another £500 for SENSE.”
Glynn said: “David is completing an epic challenge on behalf of two great charities and the least we could do was support him with a gourmet packed lunch.”
