Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Trust is to establish its headquarters in the innovative b1Summer Hill development located on the middle ring road in Birmingham by developers Barberry.

The shell unit (right), to include a mezzanine floor, is being fitted out to create 28,000 sq ft of airconditioned open-plan offices for the trust, which is undergoing a rationalisation by relocating staff currently in several buildings around the city.

Up to 250 people will be employed in the new headquarters, which is due to be completed by September.

Primecare, a medical call centre for out of hours doctor's surgery appointments, already operate a 16,500 sq ft call centre facility on the site which is close to the Jewellery Quarter.

The trust's unit has been taken on a new lease and about 41,000 sq ft of open plan space on a single floor remains to be let at a quoting rent of £14.50 per sq ft. The joint agents are DTZ Debenham Tie Leung and GVA Grimley.

Jon Bellfield of Barberry, said: "b1 has the lowest occupational cost for air conditioned office space within the middle ring road plus a generous parking ratio of around one space to 400 sq ft.

"There is strong interest in the remaining space which is currently being completed to a grade A specification under the £ 4 million contract awarded to Norwest Holst."

Barberry is undertaking the development of a new retail park in Chesterfield, a 30,000 sq ft office scheme in Burton-on-Trent, and awaiting a decision on a planning application for retail warehousing in Bromsgrove.
